17/08/2017 - Discussion with Mukim Penghulu and Village Chiefs

In the 50 years of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's reign has developed the country in various fields, with the citizens and residents enjoying peace, prosperity and well-being. There are no pasambah or gifts that can be presented by the citizens and residents to the caring and attentive monarch, other than by expressing a vow of undivided loyalty, by sincerely taking part in events line up in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty's Accession to the Throne.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs, made the speech at the 2nd Session of the Discussion with Mukim Penghulus and Village Chiefs of Brunei Muara District for Zones 2, 4 and 5. Yang berhormat pehin said that minimal participation is by hoisting the national flags at the respective residences, attending and participating in the parade around Bandar Seri Begawan on the 5th of October and participating in the Junjung Kasih and kesyukuran ceremony with the citizens and residents of the 4 districts.

Also touched upon in the session were efforts to increase the production of the One Village, One Product or 1K1P network, so that the products are more sustainable and can penetrate the local and overseas markets. Yang Berhormat Pehin noted that 9 mukim and village consultative council, MPM/MPK products will be showcased in the expo that will be held in Nanning, China and several MPM/MPK products will also be showcased in a local expo in November.

The session took place this morning at the Brunei Muara District office. Present were Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Tahamit bin Haji Nudin; Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Mohaimin bin Johari @ Jahari; and Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Mohamed bin Pengiran Haji Osman @ Othman, members of the Legislative Council; Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs; Awang Haji Idris bin Haji Ali; and Awang Haji Muhammad Sunadi bin Haji Buntar, Deputy Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
